Icelandic Music I like: Ain’t got nobody by Sísý Ey

Sísý Ey was apparently founded in 2011 but I didn’t know about their existence until late last year. In a true Icelandic fashion (this should really be the tag line of this blog) I only found out about them because someone I know was involved with one of their members. As it turns out, I would have heard about them either way because they created quite the buzz around Airwaves and then at Sónar Reykjavík this February it’s safe to say they exploded into the scene.

They managed to climb the charts in Iceland without releasing anything but finally released their first single, Ain’t got nobody, late last month. This week they also uncovered their first video. The video features some great Icelandic musicians, known for their endeavors in dance music, such as Daníel Ágúst and Magnús Jónsson of GusGus and DJ Margeir of Gluteus Maximus.

The three singers in Sísý Ey; Elín Ey, Sigríður and Elísabet; are all sisters and their mum and uncle are well respected musicians in Iceland. Some families get all the talent it seems.
